Cory Bys

Children's Minister

Cory Bys
I'm excited to begin this journey with you all by working with the young members and the volunteers and leaders that devote their time to caring for them.  As the new children's minister, I pray that God can use me to help this community, both FLC and greater Tulsa, to give children a glimpse of the great love that God has for them in Christ and to train them up as disciples.

Cory was born in Dallas, Texas, the eldest of a large, blended family (he has 15 siblings in all!!)  In 2008 he moved to Tulsa to pursue a degree in math and computer science at the University of Tulsa.  It was there that he discovered a passion for teaching, mentoring, and tutoring.  Cory has worked in camp, classroom, and church settings with students of all ages, but particularly enjoys the energy and eagerness to learn that younger students display.  During his time at TU, he also met his fiancé, Rachel, who works as a nurse in the ICU at Hillcrest.  They love doing all things outdoors-y, drinking good Tulsa coffee and finding the perfect bowl of pho (Vietnamese dish).  Cory & Rachel are so excited about this opportunity and they look forward to meeting you all!
