Care & Support
Pastor care is handled by staff and several volunteer members which includes the following areas:
- Hospital visitation
- Providing meals for those going home from the hospital
- Pastoral conversations around issues of special sensitivity or personal concern
- Administering communion to the home bound
- Providing prayer partners for each service to provide personal, private, and confidential prayer with anyone who asks
- A group of care partners who provide a variety of ministry activities
- Caring for aging parents support group
- Healing services
- On going support for persons who are dealing with intractable, chronic, situations
- Pre-Cana conferences (pre-marital counseling) for engaged couples
Confidentiality is of the utmost importance in the ministry and is always stressed with Care and Prayer Partners, as well as those providing home communion. Please contact the Church Office for more information on any of these important ministry points or if you have need of any of these care services.
Parish Nurse
Susan Sossamon is our Parish Nurse. Her office is located off the hallway across from the Music Office.
Her office hours are:
Tuesday & Thursday - 9:00 a.m. to Noon
Wednesday - 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Sunday - 9:30 to 10:45 a.m.
Blood pressure screening is available the last Sunday of every month.

Parish nurses focus on assessing and addressing the spiritual, physical and emotional needs of individuals and families within the context of a faith community.
In partnership with the pastoral staff and church members, the parish nurse promotes the faith community as a source of health and healing. Building relationships and friendships, parish nurses regularly engage in activities that teach prevention and encourage healthy lifestyles.
Roles of the Faith Community Nurse
Health Educator
Promotes an atmosphere where individuals of all ages, through a variety of educational activities, explore the relationship between values, attitudes, lifestyle, faith and health.
Personal Health Counselor
Discusses health issues and problems with individuals; makes home, hospital and nursing home visits as needed.
Referral Agent
Referrals are provided to other congregational resources as well as those found in the community at large.
Facilitator of Volunteers
Recruits volunteers and coordinates resources within the congregation to serve in various health ministries.
Developer of Support Groups
Facilitates the development of support groups for members of the faith community and people from the external community.
Health Advocate
The faith community nurse works with the client, faith community and primary health resources to provide what is in the best interest of the client from a whole person perspective.
Integrator of Faith and Health
In all activities and contacts, the faith community nurse seeks to promote the understanding of the relationship between faith and health.
